Dr. Vida Obese is a Neurologist/ Senior Physician Specialist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, Ghana. Her area of interest is movement disorders. She is the Founder/President of the Anidaso Parkinsons Disease Foundation. A lead advocate for patients’ education, better access to care, research into the disease, and the elimination of the stigma associated with the disease. She lectures at the School of Medical Sciences and Dentistry, KNUST. She holds an MPH(Population and Reproductive Health).
She had established an NGO whilst in medical school which had helped give potable water sources to over 11,000 people in deprived communities and trained several women’s groups in these communities on literacy programmes, sanitation and managing a home.
As founder of the Anidaso Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (in Ghana), she organises regular support group meetings for her patients, and has organised several awareness campaigns and educational symposium to improve the knowledge of Parkinson’s disease (PD) in Ghana. She also works with organizations to provide free access to Parkinson’s medication for patients in Ghana. She is a fierce advocate for Ghanaian Parkinson’s patients and works tirelessly to ensure they have the best quality of life possible.
She owns the AYOFA Group of companies. A licensed soapmaker, cosmetologist, and consultant trainer for entrepreneurs in the cosmetic industry.
